Vanilla from Linbian in Pintung County

In the land around Jiadong and Linbian in Pingtung County, long-term issues of land subsidence and salinization have left local farmers feeling bewildered and helpless. However, an unexpected turning point quietly emerged in this area. In 2019, the Linzi Bian Natural Cultural and Historical Conservation Association teamed up with the Council of Agriculture,Under the shelter of solar photovoltaic panels, vanilla orchids were planted. This endeavor was not reckless but grounded in solid scientific research. Only after repeated experiments and verifications did they dare to take this step. The success of this experiment is not only a redemption for the land but also a realization of the dreams of the local people.

After five years of dedication, the joy of the first harvest finally arrived. This joy is indescribable; it can only be felt in their hearts. This year, Dr. Chen’s production received the prestigious three-star award at the 2024 International Taste and Quality Institute (ITQI) in Belgium. The average content of vanillin reached 2.2%, surpassing the international Grade A average of 1.8%.
